A French 1940's ceramic wall pocket in the form of a black and yellow ombre cicada, is evocative of traditional Art Nouveau design and an excellent example of craftsmanship from that era. The earthenware decorative object was produced in the Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales region in southern France in the first half of the 20th century. The cicada comes with a hole on it's reverse side for wall mounting purposes. The piece measures roughly 12 inches long by about 5 inches at it's widest point. This item shows wear reflective of it's age.
